Avionics Software Engineer II

ENSCO, Inc. is seeking an Avionics Software Engineer II to join its Endicott, New York team. This role centers on software integration and verification for embedded avionics flight-control systems, blending development, testing, and formal verification in a lab setting using C and DO-178C traceability. The position is onsite, offers a salary range of USD 66,000 to 85,000 per year, and requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least two years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a systems engineer focused on software integration and verification for embedded avionic engine and flight-control systems.
• Collaborate within a on-site team with opportunities for near-site engagement.
• Operate in a test environment utilizing VectorCAST and Green Hills; equivalent tooling experience is acceptable.
• Develop software in C or customer-specific scripts and execute it within a lab-based test/simulation setup.
• Hardware integration and debugging knowledge is a plus but not required.
• Integrate software emulators and debuggers to exercise the system at the lowest levels of operation.
• Create formal requirements-based test procedures to guide verification activities.
• Document requirements, test procedures, and results in a configuration management system and trace them to DO-178C standards via DOORS.
• Balance activities across requirements reviews, software development, simulation testing, and system-level lab testing in an avionic environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with two or more years of related experience.
• Experience with C, Linux shell scripts, or similar software test scripts.
• Background in formal requirements and in developing software test cases and procedures.
• Experience with hardware/software debugging of embedded control systems.
• Strong verbal communication skills for effective teleconferences with suppliers, clients, and colleagues.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
