Algorithm Developer IV

Applied Materials is hiring an Algorithm Developer IV in Santa Clara, CA (onsite). This full-time role is designed for engineers who want to take ownership of algorithmic module and flow development end to end, collaborate with internal and external customers, and mentor peers while evaluating new and competing technologies. The position offers a salary range of $184,000 - $253,000 per year, plus eligibility for additional compensation such as a bonus and stock award program, as applicable.

What you’ll do

• Develop and lead a major algorithmic module or flow, including work that characterizes and drives field-driven algorithmic features (R&D extension), covering research, design, development, implementation, and proliferation aligned with project budgets and schedules.
• Carry out algorithmic C&F for a major algorithmic feature or flow, including problem analysis, data gathering, literature review, concept selection and evaluation, and implementation constraints.
• Create an algorithmic work plan for the module or flow you own.
• Document algorithmic development and plans, and support implementation, integration, and testing for the delivered module or flow.
• Partner with internal and external customers to analyze gaps, define and plan activities, collect data, and support integration, testing, and proliferation of algorithmic solutions.
• Apply system and application environment understanding to module and flow development, including participation in system definitions.
• Serve as a technical tutor and instructor, guiding algorithm developers working on the same module or flow in areas of expertise.
• Evaluate new technology and analyze competitor technology within your area of expertise.

Compensation and eligibility

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity of current team members.

For sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role (base salary plus target bonus at 100% goal achievement). Candidates may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
