The Lead AI Full Stack Software Engineer will steer the design, development, and deployment of production-grade agentic AI systems, collaborating with cross-functional squads to architect autonomous AI agents across investment functions. This hybrid role is based in Baltimore, MD, offering a flexible blend of in-office collaboration and remote work.
Responsibilities
- Guides the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of AI systems, providing technical mentorship and leadership to engineering squads.
- Partners with cross-functional teams to scale responsible AI solutions across the enterprise.
- Works with business stakeholders to craft agent-driven workflows that automate complex processes and yield actionable insights.
- Promotes engineering excellence by establishing and enforcing best practices in AI development, continuous integration, and code quality.
- Oversees projects related to agent orchestration, prompt engineering, and real-time data-driven automation.
- Manages technical debt and drives ongoing improvements to AI platforms and infrastructure.
- Identifies opportunities to apply AI agents for increased business value and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent experience), with 8+ years of progressive software development experience in object-oriented languages (such as Java, Python, or JavaScript), including demonstrated leadership of engineering teams.
- Extensive hands-on experience architecting and delivering cloud-native solutions using AWS or Azure, containerized microservices, and agent frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to guide teams through complex technical challenges.
- Ability to communicate with and influence both business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Proven commitment to engineering excellence through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous delivery standards.
- Results-oriented leader who mentors others, fosters innovation, and stays current with emerging technologies.

Compensation
The base salary range for this role is location-dependent, with the following bands:
- Maryland, Colorado, Washington, and remote: $145,000 - $247,000
- Washington, D.C.: $159,000 - $272,000
- New York, California: $181,000 - $309,000
Placement within these ranges depends on experience and skills. Base salary is one component of total compensation, and employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
Location and Work Arrangement
Baltimore, MD with hybrid work eligibility, up to three days per week from home.
