The Principal Agentic Software Engineer role is based onsite in Scottsdale, Arizona, and focuses on defining the multi-year technical vision for agentic engineering, guiding AI coding agents strategy, and establishing scalable software standards that operate across Arrivia.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the multi-year technical vision and architecture for the travel platform, ensuring alignment with product goals and business strategy.
- Set the direction for how AI coding agents are adopted, governed, and optimized across all engineering teams.
- Make high-impact architecture and technology investment decisions, balancing scalability, reliability, security, cost, and speed with company-wide consequences.
- Develop the agentic framework, including prompt libraries, MCP server ecosystems, agent governance, and quality gates that establish organizational standards for AI-generated code.
- Architect enterprise MCP implementations, defining secure interactions between AI agents and internal APIs, databases, infrastructure, and third-party services throughout the full lifecycle.
- Assess frontier AI models and emerging frameworks, delivering build-vs-buy-vs-integrate recommendations that shape the roadmap.
- Lead the most complex cross-cutting technical initiatives across teams and domains from concept through production.
- Drive modernization efforts by defining migration paths to transform legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native, agent-ready services.
- Set reliability standards by establishing SLO frameworks and operational excellence practices to protect the platform during rapid growth.
- Safeguard trust and governance by defining security architecture and partnering with Risk, Security, and Compliance on AI governance and responsible-use policies.
- Grow engineering leaders by mentoring senior and staff engineers and cultivating the next generation of technical leadership.
Requirements
- 12+ years of full-stack development and architectural leadership with a proven track record of company-wide technical influence.
- Expert proficiency with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, including a demonstrated strategy for organizational adoption.
- Mastery of two or more of TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or C#/.NET.
- Deep expertise in modern web applications, RESTful API design, distributed systems, and scalable microservices.
- Proven experience architecting enterprise-scale cloud-native solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including multi-region and hybrid deployments.
- Deep expertise in the Model Context Protocol (MCP), including enterprise MCP server architectures with secure, governed agent access.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and advanced CI/CD practices, including progressive delivery and feature flags.
- Record of developing engineering leaders and elevating an organization’s technical capabilities.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts for executive, product, and business audiences.
- An advanced degree is a plus but not required; demonstrated impact and depth of knowledge are valued above all.
