Join Kingfisher Company Inc. in Lowell, MA to build cloud software that powers emergency communication and device reporting. This onsite role combines AWS Cloud development with hands-on work across serverless, event-driven systems and mobile app performance and programming applications for iOS and Android. You will play a critical, high-responsibility role within a collaborative, small-team environment, taking ownership from design through execution while staying aligned with schedule.
Compensation: USD 70,000 - 90,000 per yearly. Work location: In person, Lowell, MA 01854.
What you’ll do
- Define and support the design and development of AWS Cloud-based applications for intelligent emergency reporting systems and connected devices
- Implement and adhere to software development methodologies, translating design specifications into system designs and implementation
- Participate in design and code reviews and help refine system quality through iterative improvements
- Implement and maintain software versioning and revision control
- Analyze system design trade-offs to meet requirements
- Own and drive execution end to end while maintaining schedule compliance
- Stay current on industry changes across software engineering technologies, processes, and disciplines
- Develop and maintain a suite of performance and programming apps supporting iOS and Android environments
What you bring
- Hands-on AWS experience, including: AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and AWS IoT Core
- Experience with API Gateway and S3 (preferred)
- Experience building and maintaining serverless and event-driven architectures
- Strong proficiency in Node.js
- Solid working knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript
- Experience designing, deploying, and supporting production AWS environments
- Familiarity with IAM and security best practices, including least-privilege access
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting cloud applications
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
- 1+ years of software development in a product-oriented environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s is a plus)
Preferred (nice to have)
- Experience with mobile application backends supporting iOS and Android clients
- Familiarity with iOS development (Swift, Xcode) or Android development (Kotlin/Java, Android Studio)
- Experience integrating mobile apps with AWS services such as API Gateway, Cognito, IoT, and AppSync
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL
- Experience with infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform)
- Exposure to real-time messaging, MQTT, or IoT-driven systems
- Understanding of mobile authentication flows and device provisioning
- Experience working in cross-functional teams with hardware, firmware, or mobile developers
