Join Redbud Cyber, an early stage AI company building at the cutting edge of human plus AI collaboration. This onsite role in Grand Rapids, MI offers the chance to shape real-time voice AI and AI teammates that work alongside people. The work moves quickly, and the impact of each engineer is substantial. The role carries a yearly salary of USD 70,000.
Benefits and culture
Impactful work at the frontier where you pair software with AI to solve real, hard problems. You’ll operate in a small, fast-moving team that values clarity, pragmatic craftsmanship, and shipping real features that people use every day.
Every week pushes the boundaries of what’s possible with AI, and you’ll collaborate directly with teammates to build systems that learn, adapt, and improve over time. This is hands-on development across the full stack, with a focus on delivering meaningful outcomes without bureaucratic hurdles.
What you will build
- Real-time voice AI that can interrupt, react, and respond in ways that feel human
- AI teammates designed to work alongside humans as genuine colleagues, with coachable behavior, measurable performance, named identities, and distinct personalities
- Live coaching tools that listen to conversations and surface actionable insights in the moment
- Scoring engines that evaluate conversation quality against defined criteria
- Domain-specific AI models tuned for the company's needs
- Cross‑layer work across the full stack, from latency to frontend features to database design
- Varied challenges from real-time latency fixes to building new web app features, database schemas, and integrating new AI models
- A generalist approach to development where you contribute wherever there is a problem to solve
About the role
We are an early‑stage AI company pushing the boundaries of how humans and AI collaborate. Our product handles real-time voice conversations that feel indistinguishable from human speech, and we deploy AI teammates that join human teams with their own roles, voices, and performance metrics. This is bleeding-edge work, with most capabilities not feasible a year ago. The team is small, the pace is fast, and the individual impact is large.
We seek an AI‑native developer who wants to build at the frontier, not maintain legacy code or ship the same feature repeatedly. You will work with the tools and models the company is racing to build, and every week should feel like the frontier is shifting again.
Who we’re looking for
- The right candidate is passionate about using AI to build software. You treat Cursor and Claude Code as productivity multipliers that boost speed and quality, and you actively read AI release notes. You experiment with new models as soon as they ship.
- You don’t need a computer science degree, years of experience, or prior work in voice AI. What matters is the right wiring — insatiable curiosity, rapid learning, and the ability to translate a vague problem into a shipped solution.
- You enjoy tackling hard problems, care about shipping useful products, and want to work where you don’t need multiple levels of approvals to move forward.
Requirements
- A genuine obsession with building software powered by AI
- Experience using AI tooling as a multiplier and a habit of evaluating release notes and new models
- Demonstrated ability to build meaningful things within the last 12 months that wouldn't have been possible two years ago
- Strong curiosity, rapid learning ability, and a track record of taking vague problems and delivering solutions
- Clear opinions about software and the willingness to defend them
- Proactive approach: define the problem, propose a solution, and ship without waiting for exhaustive specifications
- A passion for hard problems and for delivering usable, real-world software without excessive approval layers
- No strict requirement for a CS degree or prior domain experience; we value potential and drive
