Job Description

KLA is building next-generation AI-driven analytics and automation for advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and the team is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to help deliver production-ready solutions. This role focuses on agentic AI capabilities that bring together equipment data, hardware telemetry, machine diagnostics, and natural-language interfaces to improve performance, reliability, and productivity.

This onsite position is based in Milpitas, CA and offers a salary range of USD 136,300 - 199,900 per year. You will collaborate across software, systems, hardware, data science, and product engineering groups to develop an end-to-end platform that operates in highly secure, customer-controlled semiconductor environments.

What You’ll Do

Design and develop production-quality software for AI-driven equipment diagnostics, monitoring, and predictive maintenance.
Build and enhance Agentic AI frameworks that integrate LLMs with engineering and equipment data systems.
Develop software that interfaces with complex hardware platforms, including equipment telemetry streams, machine control systems, and manufacturing data sources.
Integrate AI technologies with scalable data platforms using streaming architectures, NoSQL databases, vector databases, and knowledge management systems.
Create secure APIs, services, and orchestration layers that enable intelligent workflows and automated decision-making.
Build high-performance data pipelines that convert equipment and operational data into actionable insights.
Develop modern web applications and user experiences that simplify troubleshooting and equipment diagnostics.
Work cross-functionally to deliver complete solutions, from software and systems through hardware integration and data modeling.
Deploy and support solutions that run in highly secure, customer-controlled semiconductor manufacturing environments.
Advance platform quality through strong software design, code quality practices, testing, and continuous improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications

BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production applications.
Strong programming skills in Python and at least one object-oriented language such as Java, C++, or C#.
Experience developing scalable backend services, APIs, databases, and distributed software systems.
Experience with hardware-integrated software systems, industrial equipment, manufacturing systems, instrumentation, embedded interfaces, controls software, telemetry systems, or IoT platforms.
Data-intensive application experience using SQL, NoSQL, streaming platforms, or large-scale data processing technologies.
Familiarity with cloud-native development, CI/CD pipelines, source control, automated testing, and modern software engineering practices.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with semiconductor equipment, manufacturing systems, inspection systems, industrial automation, robotics, or scientific instrumentation.
Experience building applications using LLMs, Agentic AI frameworks, RAG, tool or function calling, or AI orchestration frameworks.
Experience with vector databases, knowledge graphs, machine learning pipelines, or predictive analytics solutions.
Experience developing React-based user interfaces or modern web applications.
Understanding of equipment diagnostics, predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, or operational analytics.
Experience deploying software in secure, disconnected, or air-gapped environments.
