Job Description

Donnelly & Moore Corporation seeks a Visual Analytics Developer/Designer to support a utility client in Rye, NY. The role centers on Azure, Tableau, and Power BI, and carries a contract engagement of 12+ months with a hybrid work arrangement for local candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Tableau and Power BI dashboards that clearly communicate performance trends, operational insights, and business outcomes.
  • Transform complex datasets into intuitive analytics that help stakeholders quickly understand key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to capture analytical needs and define visualization requirements, including KPIs, metrics, and storytelling approaches.
  • Develop analytics solutions that improve efficiency, productivity, and decision making across operating units.
  • Work with the business, the data analytics team, and IT to ensure data sources, view tables, and data models are accurate, performant, and aligned with business definitions.
  • Elicit, document, and validate detailed business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and System Requirement Specifications (SRS).
  • Develop and maintain interfaces and business process specifications related to analytics and reporting solutions.
  • Ensure dashboards follow best practices in visual design, usability, and accessibility, including consistency, clarity, and effective use of color, layout, and interactivity.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in visual analytics, business intelligence, or data visualization roles.
  • Strong expertise in visual analytics and data storytelling, with the ability to present insights in a clear, business‑oriented manner.
  • Solid visual design sensibility and familiarity with data visualization best practices, including chart selection, layout, hierarchy, and storytelling.
  • Proven ability to work directly with business users to gather requirements, facilitate discussions, and create user stories that translate business needs into analytics solutions.
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps or similar sprint and backlog management tools.
  • Advanced Tableau Desktop capabilities, including:
    • Dashboard and worksheet creation
    • Calculated fields, parameters, and action filters
    • Data source management and troubleshooting
    • Performance optimization
  • Advanced Power BI capabilities, including:
    • Interactive dashboard and report development
    • Data modeling and DAX
    • Report troubleshooting and optimization
  • Proficiency in SQL for writing and editing queries.
  • Experience building and publishing interactive dashboards on Tableau Server, with knowledge of scheduling dashboards for automatic data refresh.
  • Proficiency in data blending.
  • Ability to create action filters, parameters, and calculations for preparing dashboards and worksheets in Tableau.
  • Experience in testing, cleaning, and standardizing data to meet business standards.
  • SAS Visual Analytics experience.

Compensation

Hourly rate: USD 80.00 – 95.00 per hour
