Video Game Developer
Job Description
The Sandra Company is building engaging, immersive games across multiple platforms, and they are seeking a Video Game Developer to help bring game features to life for mobile and PC. This hybrid role is based in Santa Rosa, CA, working in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional partners to deliver smooth gameplay and polished visuals.
Role summary
You will design, develop, and implement game features using established game engines and programming languages, then support performance and graphics work to ensure a consistent experience across devices. The work also includes UI/UX integration, collaboration with artists, designers, and QA, and troubleshooting to improve stability, frame rates, and load times.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement game features using C#, C++, and Python within Unity and Unreal Engine.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including artists, designers, and QA testers, to deliver seamless gameplay.
- Optimize performance through system design, performance tuning, multithreading, and debugging for smooth gameplay.
- Develop and integrate UI/UX elements using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe After Effects.
- Implement graphics rendering techniques using HLSL shaders and computer graphics principles for realistic visuals.
- Manage version control with GitHub, Perforce, and SVN, and use platform SDKs for Android and iOS development.
- Perform system performance analysis and troubleshooting to improve frame rates, load times, and overall stability.
Requirements
- Proven game development experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing projects built with Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, C++, JavaScript, Python, and Java, including familiarity with engine scripting.
- Solid understanding of OOP, data structures, system design, APIs, and software engineering principles.
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as Blender or Maya; knowledge of 3D animation and computer graphics is a plus.
- Familiarity with Android and iOS development processes and SDKs for app deployment.
- Knowledge of UX/UI design principles, along with experience using Adobe Creative Suite tools for visual assets.
- Ability to work in an Agile environment with effective cross-functional communication.
- Strong debugging skills and expertise in performance optimization, including multithreading and system tuning.
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS or similar platforms is desirable.
