Job Description

Everpure is hiring a Systems Software Engineer (MTS3) for an on-site role in Santa Clara, CA, focused on building systems infrastructure and controller-upgrade automation for a next-generation hardware upgrade framework. You’ll help connect on-array execution with cloud-guided operations to enable safer, guided, automated self-service upgrades integrated into Pure1 and Skyline.

Why this role matters

This position centers on reducing the friction and dependencies involved in complex controller upgrades and hardware replacements. You’ll design the software foundation that turns upgrade steps into repeatable workflows, adds resilience through state-based execution and validations, and provides operational insight through telemetry and metrics.

What you’ll do

  • Architect, implement, and maintain high-reliability systems software components for controller-upgrade automation and the next-generation hardware upgrade framework.
  • Convert complex hardware replacement and upgrade tasks into repeatable self-service workflows to significantly reduce support and field dependencies.
  • Build robust state machines, health checks, workflow orchestration, and pre/post-upgrade validations.
  • Implement failure-handling mechanisms and automated recovery paths to keep upgrade execution safer and more consistent.
  • Collaborate with internal services, Pure1/Skyline cloud teams, and global CPBU engineering units to deliver an end-to-end guided experience.
  • Create comprehensive test strategies, regression coverage, and CI/CD automation (for example, Jenkins) across diverse hardware and software combinations.
  • Define actionable operational metrics for upgrade execution time, manual intervention needs, error modes, and telemetry.

What you bring

  • Strong hands-on development and coding skills in C++ and Python.
  • Solid foundations in distributed systems, high availability (HA), storage architectures, hardware lifecycle, or embedded/platform software.
  • Experience designing state machines, workflow orchestration, health checks, error handling, and operator guidance for critical systems.
  • Exceptional debugging across multi-layered boundaries spanning software, hardware, and distributed services in reliability-sensitive environments.
  • Track record establishing test strategies, automated validation across hardware/software combinations, and working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including driving cross-functional alignment with technical partners.
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site in Santa Clara, CA to engage with hardware and lab environments.
  • Plus: familiarity with storage protocols and architecture (NVMe, iSCSI, PCIe, NUMA), HA failover design, array controller replacement dynamics, or server/CPU hardware architecture.

Technologies you’ll work with

C++, Python, Jenkins, GitLab, Pure1, Skyline, NVMe, iSCSI, PCIe, NUMA

Compensation

USD 149,000 - 224,000 per year.

Benefits

  • Flexible time off
  • Wellness resources
  • Company-sponsored team events
