Sr Software Engineer, Embedded

Vivint is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to lead the design, implementation, delivery, and maintenance of application-level software on embedded Linux devices for smart home products, enabling seamless device integration across wireless protocols within the Vivint ecosystem.

Role Details

Location: Washington State (hybrid)

Salary: USD 150,000 - 180,000 per year

Minimum experience: 5 years

Education: BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, deliver, and maintain application-level software for new embedded Linux based smart home devices.
• Integrate smart home devices over various wireless protocols into the Vivint ecosystem to create compelling user experiences.
• Address problems, collaborate in a team setting, and complete complex software development tasks.
• Communicate effectively and write high quality code while continuously learning new skills and technologies.

Requirements

• Proficiency with modern C++
• Experience with QT/QML framework for building user interfaces
• Experience building user interfaces on web or mobile platforms is beneficial
• Experience with other languages such as Python or Rust
• Understanding of common web and IoT protocols including HTTP, MQTT, JSON, protobufs
• Understanding of object oriented software design patterns
• Experience with compiling, unit testing, and debugging in a Linux environment
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience

Job Functions

Position requires in-office presence in Seattle, WA on a hybrid schedule for Monday through Thursday, with a work-from-home day on Friday. The role will begin remotely and transition to the hybrid arrangement.
