Sr. Lead Data Engineer

Huron Consulting Services LLC supports healthcare-focused teams with a remote opportunity for a senior data leader who can turn business and analytical needs into dependable, scalable, production-grade data solutions. This Manager-level role helps drive Huron’s healthcare Insights Platform by designing, building, deploying, and operating data pipelines, services, and applications on AWS, with hands-on technical mentorship for other Data Engineers.

What you’ll do

• Design and provide level of effort estimates for changes to the Insights applications.
• Develop high-quality modifications to application source code, processes, and architecture.
• Deliver fully tested code prior to production deployment when appropriate.
• Troubleshoot bugs and other application issues.
• Coordinate with engineers to ensure platform changes meet business needs end to end.
• Recommend and implement enhancements to streamline processes and improve performance, availability, or functionality.
• Help create project plans and capability roadmaps so technical solutions are structured and represented appropriately.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation for system and solution designs.
• Provide relevant training to internal functional SMEs and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership for engineers working on data solutions.

Skills and experience

• U.S. work authorization required.
• A B.S. degree in math, engineering, or computer science (or equivalent work experience).
• Strong computer science fundamentals.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• 6+ years professional experience with Python and SQL.
• 6+ years experience with cloud technologies, specifically Amazon Web Services.
• Experience working with VCS (Git, Subversion, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to operate within a fast-paced, multi-discipline engineering and product team.

Additional details

Location: Chicago, IL (remote). Level: Manager. Compensation: USD 140,000 - 228,000 per year.
