Sr. Data Engineer, iCloud Insights Engineering
Job Description
Build the data foundation behind iCloud insights. As a Senior Data Engineer on Apple Services Data Science & Analytics, you will help power iCloud insights with reliable data infrastructure, scalable pipelines, and high-quality reporting that business teams can trust for decision-making. This onsite role is based in Austin, TX.
In this role, you will contribute to the systems that turn iCloud storage, subscription, engagement, and commerce data into consistent, accurate analytics. You will also help improve automation and reliability across core iCloud data workflows, while shaping how iCloud data is structured, governed, and delivered over time.
What you’ll do
- Contribute heavily to the data infrastructure powering iCloud insights by building and optimizing pipelines, designing data models, and ensuring DS&A and stakeholder teams have reliable, high-quality data.
- Collaborate across teams with an agile, detail-oriented approach to solve challenging problems quickly.
- Partner with insights engineering and data science peers to translate requirements into scalable data solutions, improving automation and reliability in core workflows.
- Build systems that surface patterns across iCloud storage, subscription, engagement, and commerce data for consistent reporting across the organization.
- Over time, help shape how iCloud data is structured, governed, and delivered, improving quality, coverage, and efficiency of the analytical data ecosystem.
Minimum qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or business intelligence roles, with demonstrated expertise building and maintaining complex data pipelines and data models at scale.
- Strong proficiency with SQL, including querying, manipulating, and analyzing internet-scale data structures and very large datasets.
- Advanced proficiency with Python (or similar) and experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Spark for complex data manipulation and analytics.
- Demonstrated experience with data engineering tools and concepts, including pipeline development, data model design, and aggregation strategies for analytics and reporting.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts for diverse audiences across product, business, and engineering stakeholders.
- Strong time management skills to balance multiple projects with competing priorities.
- BS in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
Helpful background
- Experience in a fast-paced technology company, digital subscription business, or e-commerce platform navigating complex data ecosystems.
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality frameworks, or metadata management concepts.
- MS in a related field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, Economics, or similar).
Compensation and benefits
Base pay range: USD 184,700 to 324,800 per year.
