Software Engineer – Weapons Planning
Job Description
DS2 seeks a Software Engineer to support mission-driven software for weapons planning and the Next-Generation Open Mission Planning System for the DoW.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and demonstrate feature-rich applications and R&D projects
- Build and evolve capabilities for the Next-Generation Open Mission Planning System for the DoW
- Define long-term technical direction and translate it into detailed features and feasible software designs
- Create the architectural foundation needed to support large-scale solutions
- Continuously learn emerging technologies and programming tools to keep the team current
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field, plus 9 years of experience
- Background developing mission planning applications for the DoW
- Active programming experience in one or more: C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript
- Experience with web frameworks including one or more of: React, Node.js, Vue.js, Next.js, ASP.NET, Angular
- Strong fundamentals in software design and development
- Ability to coordinate team workflow and collaborate effectively
- Engage with teammates virtually and face-to-face to plan work, address issues, and present solutions to clients
- Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to help ensure on-time project delivery
- U.S. Citizenship required, with ability to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building containerized microservices in a Kubernetes environment
- Examples of code or applications available for review
- Proficiency with multiple IDEs, languages, or frameworks
- Experience taking an entire development cycle through launch
- Demonstrated proficiency with AI-assisted software development workflows
- One or more Scrum, Microsoft, Google Developer certifications, or other technical certifications
