Software Engineer - Test & Automation

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Software Engineer - Test & Automation to help validate, test, troubleshoot, and improve enterprise networking products and solutions. This onsite role in San Juan, PR 00918 focuses on building Python-based automation tools and test frameworks that increase validation efficiency while supporting product quality. You will work with cross-functional teams across Product Management, Development, and Quality Engineering, including collaboration in globally distributed engineering environments.

What you’ll do

• Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and validation procedures for networking products and solutions.
• Perform feature, system, integration, and regression testing to support quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex networking and software issues using analytical problem-solving.
• Build and maintain automation scripts and test frameworks with Python.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Systems Engineering, and Development teams to ensure releases meet quality, functionality, and customer requirements.
• Support validation of networking reference designs and customer deployment scenarios.
• Identify, document, reproduce, and track defects through resolution, contributing to release readiness and product quality initiatives.
• Create technical documentation and validation reports.
• Work effectively within globally distributed engineering teams.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and typically 5+ years of relevant experience in networking, validation engineering, testing, or quality engineering.
• Strong Python programming, scripting, or automation experience.
• Working knowledge of software testing and validation methodologies.
• Skills in test automation development and debugging.
• Strong analytical ability, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Experience working with automation frameworks or automated testing solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Experience working in Linux or similar development environments.
