Software Engineer, SDK
Job Description
The Software Engineer, SDK role at Rad Hires is an on-site, full-time position in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY. The team builds and improves open-source compiler and SDK tooling, supporting SDK generalists and SDK language specialists across multiple languages and developer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Deliver feature parity across SDKs, including advanced capabilities such as auto-pagination and server-sent events.
- Increase SDK coverage for additional languages (for example, Swift, Rust, and Terraform) by building new generators.
- Contribute across multiple codebases using TypeScript, Go, and Python.
- Work with leadership to support team growth through recruiting and mentorship.
- Define what a high-quality SDK looks like in your language, focused on idiomatic design, ease of use, and reliability.
- Own key components of the open-source compiler to add features and improve the overall developer experience.
- Stay current with language-specific tools and libraries, and engage with developers directly through GitHub and community forums.
- Contribute to hiring and mentoring efforts as the team scales.
Requirements
- 4–10 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in one of the following languages (for specialists): Java, PHP, Python, TypeScript, or Ruby.
- Broad technical fluency with the ability to contribute across different languages (for generalists).
- Experience in fast-paced startup environments; prior founder experience is a plus.
- Strong product thinking and empathy for developer experience.
- Eagerness to work in a polyglot environment.

Compensation
USD 170,000 – 230,000 per year, plus equity and a living proximity bonus. Generalists are listed at $170K–$200K, and language specialists at $200K–$230K.
