Software Engineer/Principal Software Engineer - Flight Autonomy
Job Description
On-site software engineering role focused on Flight Autonomy at Northrop Grumman in El Segundo, California. The position involves contributing to architecture, embedded and real-time software development, Agile processes, and testing in collaboration with Vehicle Management Systems and Mission Autonomy teams.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on architecture definition and solve complex system problems within Research and Advanced Design programs
- Design, develop, and document flight and mission critical software for deployment on embedded and real-time platforms
- Engage in the full software development life cycle from requirements through design, implementation, testing, and delivery
- Participate in Agile Scrum teams to deliver software across multiple baselines
- Partner with Vehicle Management Systems and Mission Autonomy teams to develop and execute component, subsystem, and system level test procedures verifying VMS and MA hardware and software functionality
Requirements
- Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of software engineering experience, or Master’s degree in STEM with 0 years of software engineering experience, or PhD in STEM with 0 years of software engineering experience
- Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of software engineering experience, or Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of software engineering experience, or PhD in STEM with 1 year of software engineering experience
- Experience developing software with C/C++, Python, Lua, and Rust
- Experience with a real-time operating system
- Proficiency in Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD)
- Familiarity with development tools such as Git, CMake, Jenkins, Visual Studio, and related tools
- Ability to obtain and maintain the final U.S. adjudicated government Secret clearance or to transfer and obtain required program access within a reasonable period
