Software Engineer - New Grad, Distributed Data Systems (2027 Start)

Databricks is hiring Software Engineer New Grads to join the Distributed Data Systems team with a 2027 start. The position focuses on core systems that power large-scale data processing, including query compilation and optimization, distributed execution, storage and resource management, transaction coordination, and data security.

This onsite role is based in Bellevue, WA. The salary range is USD 137,750 to 155,000 per year, and compensation may also include eligibility for an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will work on

• Contribute to query compilation and optimization.
• Work on distributed query execution and scheduling.
• Build and improve a vectorized execution engine.
• Drive data security efforts within the system.
• Support resource management for efficient system behavior.
• Participate in transaction coordination.
• Develop efficient storage structures, including encodings and indexes.
• Enable automatic physical data optimization.
• Work with data plane storage.
• Contribute to the storage management system.

What you bring

• Graduation in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
• Implementation experience in a general-purpose language, such as Java or C++.
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and OOP principles.
• A passion for database systems, storage systems, distributed systems, language design, or performance optimization.
• Experience managing end-to-end projects.
