Software Engineer Lead - Data Product Organization (Cloudera Hadoop, Neo4j, Spark/PySpark)

PNC Financial Services Group is seeking a Software Engineer Lead to guide the data-oriented Treasury Management network within its Data Product Organization. This onsite role in Birmingham, Alabama, centers on building and sustaining a data-centric payment ecosystem leveraging Hadoop and Neo4j, with leadership responsibilities spanning data engineering and cross-functional collaboration with data scientists and architects. The position blends hands-on engineering with mentorship and strategic delivery, anchored in a robust, enterprise-grade tech environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and expand a complex, data-centric Treasury Management payment network currently hosted on Hadoop and Neo4j
• Work on complex data requirements independently
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Architects, and other key technical resources
• Experience with streaming and Iceburg
• Proven experience in Cloudera Hadoop, HDFS, HQL, Hive, Impala, Beeline, and Neo4j
• Strong communication skills; ability to lead others
• Lead experience as a Data Engineer

Job Description

• Lead the technical design and development of software solutions
• Propose and design software solutions to address complex business needs; prepare the required technical and procedural documentation
• Facilitate complex problem resolution
• Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues; review coding, testing, and documentation of software
• Apply modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities

Pay Transparency

• Base Salary: $55,000.00 – $138,000.00
• Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
