Software Engineer III - AI Research

Join JPMorganChase's AI Research team as a Software Engineer III, designing Python-first AI/ML data platforms and GenAI applications, turning research into secure, scalable production-grade software deployed across cloud with CI/CD and IaC.

Responsibilities

• Develop software applications for AI/ML platforms and create Generative AI based apps, including Agents, with strong Python proficiency.
• Apply creative problem solving to design, develop, and troubleshoot technical solutions, pushing beyond conventional approaches to tackle complex challenges.
• Demonstrate interest and familiarity with agent-based programming and the latest techniques.
• Proactively identify opportunities to streamline or automate recurring issues, boosting operational efficiency of software and systems.
• Use CI/CD to deliver platforms on public and private clouds; work with experimentation environments such as Jupyter Notebooks.
• Collaborate closely with Data Scientists and AI Researchers to convert experiments into robust, scalable production-grade applications.
• Contribute to a team culture that emphasizes opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
• Leverage enterprise authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality and delivery speed, supported by peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; share learnings and reusable patterns to enhance team effectiveness.
• Apply knowledge of SDLC and MDLC, utilizing AI-assisted development and automation to increase value through automation.

Requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with 3+ years of applied experience.
• Hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code development, ideally with Terraform.
• Practical experience in application development, testing, and maintaining operational stability.
• Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, with a strong emphasis on Python.
• Expertise in automation and CI/CD/CT practices.
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and Model Development Life Cycle.
• Deep familiarity with Agile methodologies and basic exposure to architectural frameworks.
• Track record in platform development and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud or AI/ML.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise authorized AI-assisted development tools, with ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Knowledge of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity handling and secure input/output practices; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
