Software Engineer II - Machine Learning Engineer

Build AI/ML intelligence that improves real-world consumer experiences. On Uber’s Consumer Incentives team, you’ll help ship products and scalable distributed systems that support grocery and food experiences for hundreds of millions of global users. This role includes end-to-end ownership, from scoping and offline evaluation through experimentation, production deployment, and post-launch maintenance.

Based in Seattle, WA (onsite), you’ll collaborate closely with product management, operations, and data science to deliver outcomes that support Uber’s growth and long-term profitability.

What you’ll do

• Launch products that drive key consumer experience and business outcomes.
• Own projects across the full lifecycle: initial scoping, offline evaluation, experimental testing, production deployment, and post-launch maintenance.
• Design, tune, and enhance systems and algorithms to run effectively at scale.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across product management, operations, and data science.

What you bring

• 3+ years of experience in an AI/ML/optimization role, or a PhD in a relevant field (CS, OR, EE, Statistics, etc.).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Go, or Java.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners.
• A strong sense of ownership to move projects end-to-end.

Compensation and benefits

Salary range: USD 171,000 to 190,000 per year.
