Job Description

A Software Engineer II based in Atlanta, GA (hybrid) at Truist Bank delivers complex technical solutions, partners with product owners, and builds automated testing, monitoring, and security within an Agile setting.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technically complex solutions and provide system integration support across project work.
  • Consult with business product owners to clarify goals and offer design recommendations.
  • Develop customized coding, conduct software integration, perform analysis, and configure solutions using project specific tools.
  • Lead and contribute to the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of highly complex solutions in line with company standards, including robust unit tests and preparation for release testing.
  • Build non-functional monitoring capabilities and provide escalated production support for complex applications.
  • Implement and maintain security controls and monitoring according to company standards.
  • Typically lead moderately complex projects and participate in larger, more complex initiatives.
  • Resolve complex technical and operational problems and mentor teammates with less experience.
  • May oversee the work of a small team.
  • In an Agile environment, deliver high quality working software, automate manual or reusable tasks, engage with the business from design inception, and apply continuous engineering practices to maximize design value; actively refine user stories; design, develop, and maintain automated unit testing and support for integration and functional testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in software engineering or IT consulting, performing and applying the following:
  • Experience handling or leading data conversions between processors.
  • Strong knowledge of information systems and the ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices.
  • Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to IT functions.
  • Experience in planning and managing projects and solving complex problems, with mentoring responsibilities for less experienced teammates.
  • Collaborating with Business and Operations to refine requirements and design solutions that fit banking systems.
  • Solid expertise in relational database design and development (SQL, stored procedures, data modeling).
  • Experience coordinating across multiple work streams to standardize data definitions, rules, access policies, and data encryption techniques to maintain data quality and reliability.
  • Experience preparing feasibility study reports to assess practicality, strengths and weaknesses of proposed projects, and identify potential solutions for future phases.
  • Proficiency with: JCL; IMS database; IBM Tools (ISPF, IBM File Manager, NDM, ConnectDirect); IBM Utilities; COBOL; DB2; CICS; VSAM; SQL; SAS; CA-ESP; CA-WA Workstation; File Manager; DBVisualizer; SoapUI; and Unix.
  • Hybrid remote work eligibility and location based in or around Truist offices in Atlanta, GA; ability to work onsite at least 4 days per week.
