Software Engineer I/II - Scientific Computing
Job Description
Iambic Therapeutics, Inc builds software that supports computational chemists and helps teams run, observe, and analyze scientific workloads for computational drug discovery. This full-time Software Engineer I/II - Scientific Computing role is based on the US East Coast, with a hybrid option in Boston, MA and consideration for remote work elsewhere in the United States.
You will partner with computational chemists and machine learning researchers to turn research needs into dependable software. The work spans design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing support of Python applications and cloud workflows that help scientific teams operate more effectively and recover quickly when workflows fail.
What you’ll do
- Work closely with computational chemists and machine learning researchers to deliver practical solutions aligned to real research workflows.
- Design and maintain Python applications, libraries, APIs, and command-line tools.
- Develop reliable workflows for drug discovery workloads.
- Improve orchestration, monitoring, and recovery for workloads on AWS and cloud platforms such as Modal and Lambda.
- Integrate scientific applications with shared services for data, compute, and models.
- Troubleshoot issues, document tools, and support scientists in using them effectively.
- Contribute across the lifecycle: design, testing, review, deployment, and production support.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field and five or more years of software development experience, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong Python skills with experience writing clear, tested, maintainable production code.
- Experience running scientific or batch workloads on AWS.
- Experience with Prefect or another workflow orchestration system.
- Familiarity with computational chemistry workloads such as molecular dynamics or docking.
- Familiarity with the machine learning model lifecycle.
- A service mindset, clear communication, and genuine interest in helping scientists be effective.

- Compensation Range: $129,000 - $190,000 per year
