Job Description
Roblox is hiring an early career Software Engineer for the Data Access team within Infra/Storage to build and evolve EaaS (Entities-as-a-Service).
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve EaaS, Roblox’s managed OLTP access platform used by hundreds of services and supporting tens of millions of QPS
- Design infrastructure that hides the complexity of distributed databases and caching systems behind a consistent, safe, and high-productivity developer experience
- Improve reliability and scalability across distributed systems, including:
- Adaptive flow control
- Workload isolation and governance
- Efficient database usage
- Large-scale caching behavior
- Own end-to-end technical execution: architecture, implementation, rollout, production operations, and incident response for mission-critical infrastructure
- Analyze real production traffic patterns and failure modes to strengthen platform reliability, operational predictability, and scalability under rapidly growing workloads
- Advance safety, observability, deployment reliability, and operational excellence across the stack
- Partner with other teams to address scalability and reliability needs for critical production workloads
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience building large-scale backend or infrastructure systems
- Understanding of systems designed to operate at high QPS with low-latency requirements is a plus
- Experience working on infrastructure or performance-critical backend systems is a plus
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C#, C++, Go, Python (or similar)
- Curiosity and passion for solving open-ended problems
- Ability to identify challenges, learn the systems deeply, and drive solutions with your team
- Collaborate effectively across teams and functions to deliver a well-curated technical solution
- Willingness to take the long view to sustain collaboration and system growth
