Software Engineer

Base-2 Solutions is hiring a Software Engineer for an on-site role in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this position, you will work on complex software systems spanning processing-intensive analytics and real-time systems, with opportunities to influence system design choices through performance-focused engineering and clear documentation practices.

What you’ll do

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to deliver new features and improvements.
• Debug defects, correct issues, and integrate existing software into new systems or operating environments.
• Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases and data repositories.
• Develop or implement algorithms aligned to strict system performance and functional standards, including timing, resource, and interface constraints.
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Write or review software and system documentation, and recommend improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
• Contribute to software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, systems flow, data usage, work processes, and problem areas.
• Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process used on each project.
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes.
• Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries.
• Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure delivery aligns with software development process constraints.
• Conduct quality control on team deliverables.
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment to ensure operational specifications are met.
• Collaborate with system, hardware, and other engineering stakeholders to identify project limitations, capabilities, interfaces, and performance requirements.

Required experience & skills

• AI/ML development or integration experience.
• Terraform experience with AWS.
• Experience with C++, Python and/or Golang.
• Experience writing high-performance / GPU-enabled applications.
• Experience with large-scale streaming data analytic systems.
• 14 years of Software Engineer experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Four (4) additional years of Software Engineer experience on similar projects may substitute for the bachelor’s degree.
