Job Description

Thomson Reuters is hiring a Senior Software Engineer AI to join an agent platform team working on AI-native, end-to-end delivery of AI agent systems. This hybrid role in Eagan, MN focuses on complex agent pipelines, LLM and agent tooling integrations, and building reliable release practices that support both release velocity and stability.

You will architect and deliver production-grade agent capabilities using modern LLM APIs, agent SDKs, and orchestration/runtime infrastructure, then improve how the team evaluates, observes, and rolls out changes. If you value senior ownership, technical judgment, and mentoring, this role is built for you.

What you’ll do

  • Architect and deliver complex AI agent systems end-to-end, including multi-component pipelines, tool integrations, and multi-step reasoning, for initiatives you own.
  • Build production AI agent systems on modern LLM APIs and agent SDKs, integrating orchestration/runtime infrastructure with existing platform services.
  • Help mature agent observability and evaluation practices using tracing, automated evals, and quality or drift detection to catch regressions before customers are impacted.
  • Adopt and extend progressive delivery approaches such as feature-flagged rollouts and earlier-stage quality signals to improve release velocity and stability.
  • Participate in cross-cutting design reviews and technical decisions through RFCs and ADRs to ensure new systems fit cleanly together.
  • Mentor engineers on the team by sharing expertise and modeling AI-native, agentic development practices.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering peers to translate requirements into solid technical designs.

What you bring

  • Strong experience architecting and shipping production software systems, with hands-on experience building AI/LLM-powered products or agentic systems (not solely classical ML/data science).
  • Direct experience with modern LLM APIs, agent frameworks/SDKs, or agent-to-tool integration protocols.
  • Ability to own complex technical projects end-to-end, from design through production delivery.
  • Solid backend engineering fundamentals, including distributed systems design, service architecture, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with production reliability and observability, including monitoring, evaluation pipelines, incident response, and quality regression detection.
  • Ability to mentor others and contribute to a strong technical culture.
  • Comfort working with high autonomy on a fast-moving, senior-heavy team using AI-native/agentic engineering practices.

Tools and technologies

  • LLM APIs, agent SDKs, orchestration/runtime infrastructure
  • Feature flagging, tracing, automated evals, monitoring
  • AWS Bedrock AgentCore

  • Access to Employee Assistance Program
  • Group Legal Identity Theft Protection paid 100% by the employee
  • Access to 529 Plan, Adoption & Surrogacy Assistance, Tuition Reimbursement, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Ability to receive an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with developer-facing platforms, plugin/extension systems, or integration ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with progressive delivery practices (feature flagging, phased rollout, blue/green deployment) at scale.
  • Experience with managed agent runtime infrastructure (for example, AWS Bedrock AgentCore or similar).
  • Domain expertise in legal, regulated, professional-services, or other fiduciary domains is a plus (not required).

Compensation: USD 100,000 - 204,200 per year.
