Senior Software Engineer role at VOCAL Technologies Inc. supporting Telecommunications and Embedded Systems development in Buffalo, NY (onsite).

Design fast, efficient real-time DSP algorithms for implementation on embedded processors
Architect and implement bare metal, RTOS-based, and Linux firmware designs
Evaluate algorithm performance impact by estimating MIPS, ROM, and RAM requirements
Coordinate software and hardware development efforts with other engineers, including prototyping, algorithm tuning, and performance testing
Conduct research on new technologies and identify ways to incorporate them into VOCAL custom products for improvements

Clearance eligibility required
Design, develop, and test real-time systems focused on signal processing algorithms
Significant experience implementing DSP modules in embedded real-time environments (commercial DSPs, ARM devices) using C or C++
Strong understanding of wired and wireless communications and digital signal processing for transmit and receive operations
Knowledge of communication theory concepts including decision theory, estimation theory, and modulation-demodulation (signal processing included)
Systems engineering experience covering data communications architectures, telecom network design, and protocol analysis and selection
Experience with networking protocols: TCP/UDP/IP, RTP, MPLS, NDN
Embedded hardware interfacing experience: SPI, TDM, Ethernet, USB, I2C
Familiarity with telecom protocol standards: ITU-T, IETF, 3GPP
Demonstrated creative and critical thinking, troubleshooting skills, and strong collaboration plus written and verbal communication
Due to government contracting, US citizenship required
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering
Experience: 7 years of C/C++ programming (required)
