Job Description

Que Technology Group is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to support the Advanced Analytics Team’s mission. In this Fort Meade, MD onsite role, you will turn requirements into working software, including performance-focused development that extends down to operating system level work and binary analysis.

The work blends application engineering with low-level technical challenges such as file I/O, system interfaces, and executable understanding. You will also build and improve capabilities for detecting and analyzing malicious artifacts, supporting reverse engineering and function identification in compiled software.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications that support mission requirements.
  • Assess customer needs, produce software prototypes, engineer technical solutions, implement algorithms, and translate conceptual designs into scalable software architectures.
  • Develop and debug software using object-oriented programming languages.
  • Perform software engineering and technical design activities aligned to mission outcomes.
  • Analyze and understand legacy code to support ongoing and new development.
  • Create efficient algorithms using data structures, dynamic programming, heuristics, and modeling techniques.
  • Conduct software testing and troubleshooting to validate functionality and performance.
  • Work at the operating system level, including file I/O, system interfaces, and low-level programming concepts.
  • Develop advanced tools for binary analysis and security-oriented research, including shellcode detection, malware analysis, function identification, and reverse engineering of compiled software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 11 years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with Python, with the ability to read and understand C/C++ and Assembly (x86).
  • Experience with software architecture, operating system design, compilers, and debugging.
  • Comfort working with operating system internals, low-level development, file I/O, system APIs, memory management, and executable program analysis.
