Job Description

Intuit is building smarter ways to detect and prevent credit risk across its lending money movement services products, and the Fintech Risk AI/ML credit risk team (Team Apollo) is central to that effort. As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer in Mountain View, you’ll help design and scale machine learning systems that move from idea to production, supporting model development, data readiness, and measurable improvements through experimentation.

Role overview

Team Apollo focuses on identifying and reducing credit risk for all lending money movement services products. In this position, you will conceive, code, deploy, and scale machine learning models and the web services that support them, with responsibilities spanning feature development, data preparation, and A/B testing.

What you’ll do

  • Work embedded with a team of data scientists to help conceive, code, and deploy data science models at scale using modern industry tooling
  • Develop and maintain web services for the AI team that orchestrate multiple ML functions
  • Apply data wrangling, feature engineering, model development, and testing metrics to improve credit risk detection and prevention
  • Discover, access, import, and clean data, then prepare it for machine learning use
  • Collaborate with data scientists to build and refine features from underlying data and create pipelines for training and deployment
  • Partner with data scientists to understand, implement, refine, and design machine learning and other algorithms
  • Run regular A/B tests, gather data, perform statistical analysis, and draw conclusions about model impact
  • Coordinate with product managers, data scientists, and product engineers, and communicate results to peers and leaders
  • Evaluate technology shifts and determine how they may connect to customer benefits

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years of experience
  • Knowledge of data science tools and frameworks, including Python, Scikit, NLTK, Numpy, Pandas, TensorFlow, Keras, R, and Spark
  • Understanding of core machine learning principles such as training and validation
  • Demonstrated experience building web services (for example, REST) and designing APIs
  • Experience with at least one object-oriented language such as Scala, Python, or Java
  • Knowledge of data query and processing tools, including SQL
  • Computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, performance complexity, and software performance considerations (including I/O and memory tuning)
  • Software engineering fundamentals such as version control (for example, Git) and the ability to write production-ready code
  • Experience deploying highly scalable software supporting millions or more users
  • Experience with GPU acceleration (for example, CUDA and cuDNN)
  • Experience integrating applications and platforms with cloud technologies such as AWS
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical material to non-technical audiences

Skills and technologies

  • Python, Scikit, NLTK, Numpy, Pandas, TensorFlow, Keras, R, Spark
