Senior Industrial Software Engineer

Rockwell Automation offers a hybrid, Milwaukee-based role for a Senior Industrial Software Engineer that blends OT and IT excellence to enable Connected Enterprise and IIoT solutions. You will work closely with focused customers on co-innovation, deliver rapid prototypes, and provide technical pre‑ and post‑sales support to drive successful deployments. This position supports architecture from the factory floor to the cloud and emphasizes practical, results‑driven software development in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical pre‑sales and post‑sales support for Rockwell Automation products and systems
• Support sales presentations, product demonstrations, and installation and ongoing maintenance to ensure systems meet specifications
• Answer customer inquiries related to system software and applications
• Offer software development expertise and consultation to prospective users
• Create mini‑applications or prototypes based on customer needs to demonstrate feasibility
• Develop applications using Logix Designer and FactoryTalk Optix
• Build edge‑to‑cloud integrations with DataMosaix, Plex, and Fiix
• Develop APIs, microservices, and modern web applications
• Work with time‑series databases and data visualization tools
• Derive software requirements from manufacturing system understanding
• Define architectures from the Logix control layer through the cloud
• Align control data models with enterprise and cloud solutions
• Apply cloud‑native and event‑driven design patterns
• Advance OPC UA standards adoption
• Design data models using Smart Objects, FT Optix, and FT DataMosaix
• Integrate Logix, historian, and enterprise data
• Promote analytics and predictive use cases
• Utilize Logix Designer, FactoryTalk Design Studio, FactoryTalk Optix, DataMosaix, Plex, and Fiix in solutions
• Address industrial automation components such as PLC, HMI, and SCADA within deployments
• Translate complex architectures into practical, executable solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Minimum 12 years of experience in industrial software or a related field
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; Rockwell Automation will not sponsor visa applications for this role
