Perception Machine Learning Engineer – ADAS
Job Description
Lucid Motors is seeking a Perception Machine Learning Engineer to build and improve autonomous driving perception capabilities for ADAS. The role focuses on turning camera and LiDAR data into deployable machine learning models, with an emphasis on reliable performance through testing, validation, and production deployment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize perception algorithms for autonomous driving systems using camera and LiDAR inputs.
- Design and implement deep learning solutions for 2D/3D object detection, segmentation, tracking, and multi-task learning.
- Research, integrate, and iterate on BEV transformer-based approaches for perception tasks.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support seamless integration and robust implementation of perception software.
- Test, release, and deploy perception algorithms into Lucid production programs.
- Support validation and verification of perception algorithms using prototype and pre-production vehicles.
- Propose software algorithm improvements aimed at advancing future autonomous driving capabilities.
Requirements
- Strong theoretical foundation and practical expertise in deep learning algorithms, including object detection, tracking, and segmentation.
- Proficiency in Python with a focus on clean, efficient, and scalable software development.
- Comfort working with large codebases and debugging complex machine learning models.
- Experience with PyTorch or other ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or MXNet.
- Ability to design evaluation pipelines that support unit testing of ML models across diverse conditions and environments.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong team orientation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or a Ph.D. in a related field for a senior position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing BEV transformer models for perception.
- Proficiency in C++, including experience writing efficient and maintainable code.
- Practical, hands-on problem-solving experience in autonomous driving contexts.
- Experience testing and validating perception systems in real-world conditions.
- Experience working in agile development teams.
- Expertise in component and system integration, testing, and verification at both system and vehicle levels.
