Job Description

Andreessen Horowitz is hiring a Global Partnerships Data Engineer in Menlo Park, CA (onsite). This role sits within Global Partnerships and focuses on building and advancing the data infrastructure, systems, and automation that support portfolio and partnership workflows across the firm.

As an independent owner of key datasets and pipelines, you will lead complex cross-functional initiatives and help translate unclear business needs into scalable systems, reliable pipelines, and practical, decision-ready insights.

What you will do

  • Own critical systems, including the Global Partnerships core datasets and data pipelines, and act as a technical and strategic thought partner on data practices, automation, and scalable process design
  • Design and maintain scalable data infrastructure and dependable pipelines that connect Global Partnerships systems, reducing manual work and error rates
  • Maintain high standards of data precision by monitoring discrepancies across platforms and correcting issues as needed
  • Assess and implement tools and integrations to improve visibility, connectivity, and decision-making
  • Identify, pilot, and scale AI tools and agentic workflows that reduce manual work, then drive adoption through training, documentation, and change management
  • Lead automation and process development to improve data accuracy, reliability, and speed through operational scale
  • Serve as an AI thought partner by staying current on emerging tools and turning them into concrete improvements for LP-facing and internal processes
  • Create visualizations and quantitative analyses supporting fund and investment performance, including projected exit scenarios and liquidity and follow-on decisions
  • Build fluency with the firm’s portfolio company information database and manipulate and analyze data to generate insights
  • Refine and calibrate portfolio performance analyses to keep them current and relevant

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience; experience in data analytics or data engineering is preferable but not limited to
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a technical field (preferred but not required)
  • A critical eye and attention to detail for written prose and for charts, tables, and spreadsheets; ability to track changing data or facts across multiple documents
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in writing
  • Proven experience building and maintaining data workflows, automations, or integrations using Python, Javascript, or a comparable language
  • Demonstrated ability to lead ambiguous cross-functional projects with substantial autonomy and influence across technical and business teams
  • Experience owning or administering complex data pipelines or another critical business system, with focus on data completeness, governance, and integration
  • Low ego and high empathy, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams

Salary: USD 269,000 - 314,000 per year.

The Global Partnerships Data Engineer owns and advances the data infrastructure, systems, and automation supporting Global Partnerships activities at Andreessen Horowitz. The role operates with significant independence and partners across Global Partnerships and adjacent teams as a technical and strategic thought partner.

Location: Menlo Park, CA (onsite). Candidates must be able to work from the San Francisco Bay Area.
