Odoo ERP/WMS Developer
Job Description
Hands-on Odoo ERP/WMS Developer focused on warehouse, inventory, and operational workflows, reporting to the Supply Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, document, and maintain custom Odoo modules and related system enhancements.
- Own Odoo.sh development workflows: Git branches, builds, staging validation, production deployments, logs, dependencies, and upgrade readiness.
- Configure and customize Odoo elements including models, fields, views, menus, reports, QWeb templates, automated actions, workflows, access rights, and record rules.
- Troubleshoot failed builds, server errors, scheduled jobs, data issues, integrations, security issues, and system performance problems.
- Build and maintain API and webhook integrations with eCommerce, shipping, finance, reporting, and other business applications (Odoo is the primary focus).
- Follow structured testing, documentation, deployment, and change-management practices to preserve system stability and data integrity.
- Plan and execute controlled data imports, migrations, reconciliations, and master-data cleanup for products, packaging, locations, lots, expiration dates, and opening inventory.
- Create automated tests for custom modules and maintain documented deployment, validation, and rollback procedures.
- Prototype and validate major workflow changes through controlled pilots before warehouse-wide deployment.
- Support the current Odoo Online environment and help assess, plan, and execute a controlled transition to Odoo.sh when approved.
- After migration, manage Git-based development plus staging, testing, and production deployment workflows.
- Configure and improve Odoo Inventory, Barcode, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and warehouse-related workflows.
- Optimize receiving, quality control, putaway, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, returns, internal transfers, and inventory-counting processes.
- Support warehouse concepts including locations, routes, push/pull rules, putaway rules, reordering rules, reservations, packages, units of measure, product packaging, lots, expiration dates, barcode labels, and inventory traceability.
- Improve manufacturing and kitting workflows such as bills of materials, manufacturing orders, bundles, and component management.
- Work directly with warehouse employees and supervisors to test system and scanner workflows under real operating conditions.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and operational issues tied to the system and recommend practical solutions.
- Translate operational needs into functional requirements, technical solutions, test cases, and implementation plans.
- Partner with the Supply Operations Manager and cross-functional stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and implement system improvements.
- Evaluate whether business needs are best handled through standard Odoo configuration, automation, customization, or custom development.
- Coordinate with Odoo, external developers, and technology vendors for additional technical support or escalation.
- Maintain system documentation including user guides, SOPs, testing records, and change documentation.
- Train employees on Odoo workflows, system updates, and new functionality.
- Support user acceptance testing, data validation, system releases, and post-launch support.
- Support additional business applications and integrations as needed while keeping Odoo as the primary focus of the role.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on Odoo development and administration experience in a production environment, or equivalent Odoo project experience.
- Experience developing or significantly customizing Odoo modules beyond basic Odoo Studio configuration.
- Hands-on experience with Odoo.sh, Git, development/staging/production environments, build troubleshooting, and controlled deployments.
- Strong working knowledge of Python, Odoo ORM, XML, QWeb templates, and PostgreSQL concepts, plus Git.
- Functional knowledge of Odoo Inventory and Barcode, including warehouse locations, operation types, routes, replenishment, reservations, packages, lots, and traceability.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Montclair, California and collaborate directly with warehouse and office teams.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with recent Odoo versions, particularly Odoo 18 or Odoo 19.
- Experience with Odoo implementations, migrations, or custom-module upgrades.
- Experience supporting multi-company, multi-warehouse, high-SKU, lot-controlled, expiration-controlled, or regulated-product environments.
- Practical experience with warehouse operations, inventory control, supply chain, purchasing, manufacturing, or logistics.
- Experience integrating ERP systems with eCommerce platforms, marketplaces, carriers, EDI, 3PLs, or financial systems.
- Experience with JavaScript/Owl for frontend customization.
- Working knowledge of Linux, APIs, webhooks, SQL troubleshooting, barcode hardware, or Zebra label printing.
- Odoo certification, Odoo partner experience, or a portfolio of relevant custom development work (plus).
