Job Description

The Lead Data Engineer will help Lutron build and scale a modern, cloud-native data and AI platform. This role focuses on shaping enterprise data ecosystem architecture and delivering scalable data solutions across streaming, cloud platforms, data modeling, and AI enablement.

Role Overview

In this onsite position in Coopersburg, PA, the Lead Data Engineer will guide the development of Lutron’s cloud-based data ecosystem. The role also includes mentoring engineering and data teams, driving engineering best practices across governance, security, and scalability, and enabling trustworthy analytics through strong data modeling and quality practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide the development of Lutron’s cloud-based data ecosystem.
  • Mentor data engineers, software engineers, and data scientists.
  • Drive best practices in data engineering, governance, security, and scalability across teams.
  • Streamline data access and champion data literacy across the company.
  • Process, clean, and validate the integrity of large-scale datasets.
  • Architect cloud-based solutions leveraging AWS and Microsoft platforms.
  • Model data for the business to support accurate analytics, KPIs, and decision-making across functional areas.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure to host, manage, and automate machine learning models and advanced analytics.
  • Support AI/ML workflows by developing scalable pipelines for model training, deployment, monitoring, and versioning.
  • Integrate AI-driven tools such as recommendation engines, natural language processing, and predictive analytics into enterprise systems.
  • Optimize data pipelines for large-scale feature engineering, experiment tracking, and real-time inference.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to productionize AI models and agents, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Ensure performance and data quality through SQL programming and optimization.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide automated analytics, dashboards, and data visualizations to empower business decisions.

Required Education

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 for all degrees earned.

Minimum Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Proven expertise in modern data modeling, real-time and batch data processing, and cloud-based architectures.

Technologies and Tools

  • Cloud platforms: AWS (S3, Glue, EKS, Lambda, SageMaker, Redshift, Athena, Bedrock, Agentcore) and Microsoft.
  • Databases: SQL and NoSQL.
  • Visualization: Power BI, Tableau, QuickSight.
  • Programming & analytics: Python (Pandas, NumPy, PySpark).
