Job Description

The Junior Software Engineer will contribute to production code for locomotive systems, including motors, smoke units, and sound files, with opportunities to extend production code to Legacy models and participate in new development initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare production code releases and the accompanying engineering change notices (ECNs) for deployment.
  • Edit audio assets and manage version control for audio builds.
  • Modify control system configuration files and maintain version control for production builds.
  • Develop product prototypes, document procedures, and implement improvements.
  • Create internal and factory-facing procedures and documentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners to diagnose production issues and optimize processes.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering with a solid foundation in embedded code (required).
  • 0-3 years of applicable experience with C language; assembly language skills are a plus.
  • Familiarity with audio editing tools such as Adobe Audition.
  • Experience with embedded processors from Microchip or Atmel.
  • Proficiency in C and ASM; IDEs such as MPLAB or ATMEL Studio.
  • Hardware knowledge is a plus; familiarity with test equipment such as an oscilloscope.
  • Strong understanding of embedded designs and electromechanical systems (required).
