Hadoop Developer

Experis’ client is hiring a Hadoop Developer for a hybrid engineering role in Charlotte, NC (3 days onsite).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop solutions based on complex requirements to support business outcomes while meeting functional, non-functional, and compliance needs.
• Participate in story refinement and help clarify requirements across the delivery lifecycle.
• Estimate effort for stories/requirements and run spike or proof of concept activities to reduce risk and validate new ideas.
• Implement code and unit tests aligned to acceptance criteria, with a focus on maintainability and straightforward integration and testing.
• Build and maintain automated test suites including integration, regression, and performance testing to support reliable releases.

Requirements

• Strong database fundamentals and SQL skills.
• Working understanding of the Hadoop Big Data ecosystem.
• Experience writing Shell scripts on Linux/Unix.
• Hands-on experience with Hadoop and related tooling, including:
  • Hadoop/Spark
  • Using Pig and Hive (including running Hive queries and analyzing data with Hive)
  • Using Oozie
• Experience with data movement and processing, including:
  • Sqoop for importing/exporting between HDFS and relational databases
  • Developing MapReduce programs to format data
