Front End Developer – Mid-level

Maximus offers a remote-friendly mid-level Front End Developer role designed for engineers who want to contribute to meaningful government-focused work. This position supports US-based initiatives with a strong emphasis on modern UI, usability, and scalable front-end solutions. The role requires an active Secret clearance or above, with TS/SCI highly preferred. The annual salary range is USD 100,000 to 130,000.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned tasks, delivering in-depth knowledge in relevant domains.
• Apply analytical abilities to support process improvements, specialized studies, and requirements definition.
• Engage in analysis, planning, creating requirements documents, building functional models, and developing procedures and architectural views, alongside related management and technical duties.
• Bring specialized-area expertise to the front end design and development efforts.
• Execute front-end engineering tasks such as producing technical design drawings, mockups, and wireframes for PMO and stakeholder review; plan and implement GUI modifications; construct and optimize UI elements; enhance navigation and user flow; facilitate intuitive use of new user-facing features.

Requirements

• Active Secret Clearance or above required; TS/SCI highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; a Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience.
• 7 years of experience in the functional area.
• 7 years of software development experience in object-oriented and scripted languages, with the ability to apply DevSecOps, microservices, and containers toolsets.
• 3 years of experience with bug tracking software (Jira).
• 3 years of recent and relevant experience performing front-end web design and development.
• 3 years of experience testing web-based applications.
• 3 years of experience participating in software development programs or projects.
• 5 years of experience with Jenkins and GitLab.
• 5 years of experience with at least five of the following: Apache, Ember, React, Angular, JavaScript, Jaguar, Java, Cricket, Node.
• Demonstrated experience with agile, user-centric application design and strong UI/UX standards.
• Experience generating system wireframes and mockups that consider multiple user personas.
• Experience preparing, conducting, and documenting system tests to verify operability and compliance with standards.
• Practical experience developing in a cloud environment.
• Experience integrating data from unclassified to classified application deployments.
