Job Description
Apogee Electronics is seeking an Embedded Linux Software Engineer in Santa Monica, CA to contribute to a real-time audio platform on Linux.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with hardware and software designers within a small, agile design team.
- Contribute to the development of a real-time audio platform on Linux.
- Assist in the bring-up of custom hardware boards.
- Develop prototypes to validate key design concepts and surface technical constraints early in the process.
- Collaborate with audio application developers to optimize driver performance and overall system behavior.
- Coordinate with hardware engineers on peripherals and physical interfaces for custom hardware designs.
Requirements
- More than five years of professional software development and embedded systems experience.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
- Solid Linux kernel and driver level development experience.
- Proficiency in C and C++.
- Familiarity with real-time development trade-offs and optimization strategies.
- Experience with ARM and SoC device development; Altera SoC experience is a plus.
- Experience with low-level peripheral and interface programming and a variety of embedded MCU toolchains.
- Basic knowledge of audio recording, digital audio workstation software, and audio interface hardware is a plus.
- Experience in audio application development or signal processing is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, hardworking, and capable of working independently and in a team.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
