Embedded Developer LynxOS
Job Description
Raytheon is seeking an Embedded Developer with a focus on LynxOS and real-time operating systems for onboard embedded systems. This onsite role is based in Tewksbury, Massachusetts and requires an active DoD security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Modify, debug, test, and extend LynxOS and RHEL Linux based embedded operating systems.
- Collaborate with application teams to add capabilities and resolve issues.
- Serve as the primary liaison with OS and toolchain vendors (examples include Lynx and PTC), overseeing defect tracking and resolution for vendor deliverables and contributing to design efforts and customizations.
- Assess software products for technical soundness and adequacy.
- Communicate with senior software personnel through written and verbal channels.
- Produce documentation relating to the design and release of software artifacts.
- Develop complete software solutions and influence the successful completion of supported programs and projects.
- Apply Agile and DevSecOps practices, including automation and continuous integration.
- Adhere to organizational processes and procedures.
- Participate in the requirements, design, development, and testing of real-time embedded and application software, and tools, including new work products or enhancements.
- Collaborate with project managers and other members of the Engineering organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
- Experience with LynxOS or other real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Experience in embedded systems development and debugging.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation and test tooling.
- Experience with programming languages including C and C++.

Qualifications We Prefer
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Experience with system initialization software development.
- Experience with POSIX APIs and RTOS specific APIs.
- Experience with networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and embedded system security.
- Experience with hardware architectures such as ARM, PowerPC, or x86.
- Experience in software integration and testing for embedded or real-time systems.
- Experience building automation pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo, or Travis.
- Device driver development and hardware-software integration experience.
- Familiarity with real-time scheduling algorithms and system optimization.
- Strong background in data structures, algorithms, OS design, and software development life cycle.
- Prior experience in Patriot software is highly desirable.

Security Clearance and Citizenship
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. DoD clearance type: Secret. Interim clearance must be obtainable prior to start date.
