Electrical/Software Engineer
Job Description
Fischer Panda Generators invites applications for an Electrical/Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain embedded control solutions for diesel generator systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded hardware and software for diesel generator control systems using C and related languages.
- Develop Windows application software for end-of-line testing systems and production environments.
- Interface with hardware components including sensors, actuators, CANbus, Modbus, and other protocols.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to integrate software with generator systems.
- Create and execute software test plans, perform debugging, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Ensure software compliance with applicable military, marine, and RV regulations.
- Maintain documentation and version control using Git, SVN, and related tools.
- Participate in field testing and provide support for production and service teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience developing embedded software, ideally within power systems or generator controls.
- Proficiency in C and experience with embedded development tools such as Keil, IAR, and Eclipse.
- Experience with microcontroller-based system design and hardware interfacing.
- Familiarity with communication protocols including CANbus, J1939, Modbus, RS-485, and similar standards.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of electronic development and board-level design; familiarity with advanced ECAD tools (KiCAD, Pulsonix, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in military, marine, or RV industry applications.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards such as MIL-STD, ABYC, or RVIA codes.
- Experience with power management systems or generator synchronization.
- Knowledge of NI LabVIEW or scripting tools for testing and automation.
- Security clearance or eligibility for military-related projects is a plus.
