Role overview

We are seeking a dedicated Robot Wrangler Specialist to serve as the backbone of lab operations and robotics research. The position combines daily setup, hardware upkeep, and precise data collection with expert teleoperation to produce clean, dependable results. You will bridge maintenance with experimental execution, ensuring the robotics fleet supports productive research cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Teleoperation and data collection: conduct complex manipulation tasks using VR headsets and remote interfaces, prioritizing high quality datasets that accurately reflect robot performance.
  • Operations and setup: prepare robots for experiments each day, including battery changes and hardware checks to keep runs on schedule.
  • Technical maintenance: sustain hardware and software configurations for the robot fleet, troubleshoot issues, and document and resolve problems affecting performance or results.
  • Standardization and documentation: develop and refine internal procedures to standardize lab workflows, and collaborate with researchers and engineers on projects and daily experiments.
  • Team collaboration: communicate effectively with engineers, managers, and fellow wranglers to maintain a smooth workflow in a high tempo setting.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux environments and operating systems.
  • Experience with AR/VR systems, remote-control operations, or meticulous data collection is preferred; a strong willingness to learn and adapt to these technologies is highly valued.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 25 lbs, move robots during routine tasks, and sit or stand for extended periods during data collection.
  • Comfort working in close proximity to robots and wearing VR headsets for long durations.
  • Excellent observation and documentation skills with a keen eye for deviations in hardware or software.
  • Strong listening skills, quick learner who can follow precise instructions in a quota-driven environment.
  • Solid teamwork and communication abilities to coordinate effectively within a fast‑moving research setting.
