Overview

Cherokee Strategic Edge is seeking a Data Engineer to support Defense analytical requirements with advanced scientific research and to contribute to the DIE's integrated all-source analysis of foreign defense capabilities for warfighters, Defense planners, and policymakers. Location: Reston, Virginia 20190.

Compensation and Benefits

Estimated starting salary range for Data Engineer - Senior is $150,000 to $170,000, with pay commensurate with experience. This is a full-time role with benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and other provided benefits. Employer-provided benefits are subject to change at any time.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and operate data management systems to support intelligence needs.
  • Define how data will be stored, accessed, used, integrated, and governed across diverse data regimes and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with data users to determine, create, and populate optimal data architectures, structures, and systems.
  • Plan, design, and optimize data throughput and query performance.
  • Participate in selecting backend database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, HPC, etc.), configuring and utilizing them, and optimizing the full data pipeline to support content, volume, ETL, and data periodicity for responsive queries and analyses.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, and Skills

  • Current TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a Counterintelligence polygraph.
  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience, with a portion of that experience within the last 2 years preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the labor category activities required to meet mission requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate understanding from information that may be incomplete, indirect, highly complex, seemingly unrelated, or technically advanced.
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate with other IC members on information sharing, driving collection, and addressing analytic disputes and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop concise, insightful, and comprehensive products for defense intelligence.
  • Demonstrates ability to guide teams in researching multifaceted or critical problems.
  • Must pass Cherokee Federal pre-employment qualifications.

Security and Eligibility

  • Current TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a Counterintelligence polygraph.
  • This position is restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents per government contract; documentation confirming citizenship or permanent residency is required to qualify.
