Job Description

The Nashville Predators organization relies on data to guide decisions across the NHL, the arena operation, and Sabertooth Sports & Entertainment. This onsite Data Engineer role sits within the Business Strategy & Analytics function, charged with building and maintaining data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and analytics that drive informed business decisions for multiple business units.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to operational strategy on database architecture and design for the business strategy & analytics function.
  • Optimize reporting and analysis datasets for performance improvements and expanded resourcing through normalization, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
  • Design and manage ETL/ELT pipelines, data migrations, and data validation processes including data flows delivered via API, RSS feeds, webhooks, SFTP, and SaaS platforms.
  • Develop modeled data sets intended for automated reporting across ticketing, partnerships, digital marketing, and customer journey mapping.
  • Experience with identity resolution and golden record systems creation and management.
  • Support CRM and Analytics teams to understand data needs and deliver reliable solutions.
  • Grow the scope of responsibility and impact of the analytics team within the overall department.
  • Execute techniques to identify, extract, and analyze data to support business decisions.
  • Transform complex data into thoughtful, actionable insights through analytical methods.
  • Contribute to documentation of data processes, schemas, and workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a consistent track record of professional and personal achievement. Preferred concentrations: computer science, information systems, business analytics, or statistics.
  • 0-1 year of professional experience building ETL/ELT pipelines, relational database design/management, and data operations.
  • Expert-level understanding of SQL, with PostgreSQL preferred.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Redshift related AWS services (S3, RDS, IAM, Glue, DMS) is a plus.
  • Proficient in R, Python, JavaScript, or other open-source tools for data pipeline building and management.
  • Deep understanding of dimensional data modeling concepts and practical experience building star schemas, including facts, dimensions, and slowly changing dimensions.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Understanding of ticket operations (Ticketmaster/TM1/Archtics) a plus.
  • Understanding of CRM systems data a plus.
  • Ability to identify problems, their sources, and potential solutions while maintaining day-to-day operations without interruption.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with excellent critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Experience in the Sports and Entertainment industry is a strong plus.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
