Job Description

Absolute Business Solutions Corp is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support a mission-focused Intelligence Community customer in Chantilly, VA. The role centers on designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and platforms that ingest, process, transform, and deliver structured and unstructured data within an Agile team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for retrieving, parsing, transforming, and processing structured and unstructured data.
  • Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and workflows that support analytics, reporting, and mission applications.
  • Develop scripts, services, and applications that convert diverse data sources into usable, standardized formats.
  • Design and support scalable data platforms for ingesting, processing, storing, and delivering large volumes of information.
  • Collaborate with analysts, developers, data engineers, and data consumers to understand mission requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Support assessment, design, development, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of data platforms.
  • Develop solutions using programming languages such as Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
  • Use modern version-control and collaborative development practices with tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
  • Troubleshoot data-quality, ingestion, processing, and performance issues across complex data environments.
  • Participate in Agile engineering activities, technical discussions, design reviews, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support scalability, reliability, monitoring, and operations for mission data platforms.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience developing software used to retrieve, parse, process, or transform structured and unstructured data.
  • 3+ years of experience developing solutions using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
  • 3+ years of experience designing or developing scalable ETL/ELT workflows supporting analytics or reporting.
  • Experience developing technical solutions in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience using version-control tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
  • Experience developing scripts or applications that transform multiple data types into usable formats.
  • Ability to support scaling, monitoring, operation, and maintenance of data platforms.
  • Ability to work on-site in Chantilly, VA.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to obtain Security+ Certification within 30 days of start date.
  • Able and willing to train on Snowflake and obtain Snowflake certification at employer cost.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in UNIX or Linux environments, including basic commands and Shell scripting
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience with distributed data processing or computing technologies such as Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka
  • Experience developing or supporting real-time data or streaming applications
  • Experience implementing or supporting NoSQL databases, including MongoDB or Cassandra
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks
  • Experience with data warehousing technologies such as AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake
  • Experience working within Agile engineering environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Current Security+ Certification

Compensation

USD 140,000 - 240,000 per year
