Job Description

Vaco by Highspring is hiring a Data Engineer for a 12-month contract based in Nashville, TN with a hybrid work setup (Brentwood, TN is the local focus). In this role, you will help design and operate ETL/ELT pipelines, build data warehouse solutions, and deliver governed data products that support reporting, automation, analytics, and AI-driven use cases.

You will work across technical and business partners to translate requirements into reliable data solutions, while improving data quality and ensuring clear governance through documentation, lineage, testing, and change management.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines
  • Develop and support data warehouse solutions and curated datasets
  • Integrate data from multiple source systems
  • Prepare data for reporting, analytics, automation, applications, and AI-driven use cases
  • Handle data acquisition, cleansing, parsing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation
  • Support data governance, including lineage, documentation, testing, and change management
  • Create and maintain data models aligned to business and reporting needs
  • Monitor and improve data quality across platforms and processes
  • Partner with technical and business teams to gather requirements and deliver data solutions
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and data standards

What you bring

  • Experience building and supporting ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with Teradata Protocol Transport (TPT)
  • Hands-on experience with SSIS
  • Hands-on experience with Python
  • Hands-on experience with PowerShell
  • Experience with cloud-based data services
  • Background performing data acquisition, cleansing, parsing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation
  • Experience integrating data from multiple source systems
  • Experience preparing data for reporting, analytics, automation, applications, and AI-related initiatives
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data structures, and data modeling
  • Experience building curated datasets and governed data products
  • Experience with one or more database platforms, including Google BigQuery, Teradata Vantage, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or other enterprise DBMS platforms
  • Experience with data analysis and data visualization
  • Strong understanding of data quality and governance practices (including lineage, documentation, testing, and change management)
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Compensation: USD 58 per hour. Job type: contract. Location: Nashville, TN (hybrid).
