Contract Power BI Developer (SQL & MongoDB Integration Specialist)

Contract Power BI Developer sought to design and organize reporting workflows within a SQL-centric environment and deliver insights through Power BI dashboards on a MongoDB-backed platform. The role emphasizes translating business logic, integrating MongoDB data, and transforming data for reporting. This is a remote contract position with an hourly rate of USD 33 to 38, requiring a minimum of five years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex business logic and reporting structures from a relational SQL environment into Power BI dashboards.
• Establish and optimize connections between MongoDB and Power BI using tools such as the MongoDB BI Connector or CData drivers.
• Utilize Power Query with the M language to clean, flatten, and transform nested JSON-like MongoDB data into tabular formats suitable for reporting.
• Develop advanced measures and calculated columns with DAX to satisfy defined KPIs.
• Tune SQL queries and Power BI data models to enable fast report refreshes and low latency.
• Design and implement optimized SQL queries and stored procedures to extract, transform, and aggregate data from the database layer.
• Document data sources, query logic, and report definitions to support long-term maintainability after the engagement ends.

Requirements

• Technical stack: expert proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and SQL (T-SQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent).
• MongoDB experience: proven ability to connect Power BI to MongoDB Atlas or on-premise deployments.
• Data modeling: solid understanding of star schemas and the distinction between relational and non-relational data structures.
• Documentation: ability to document data lineage and transformation steps for ongoing maintenance.
