The Superior Court of California, County of Sonoma offers a temporary, extra help Application Developer position with on site work in Santa Rosa, CA. The role pays an hourly rate of USD 53 to 64 and runs through roughly March 2027. The assignment emphasizes building, updating, and supporting Court systems, translating user needs into technical tasks, debugging, testing, and coordinating deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, updates, and maintains applications to align with user and business requirements, including coding, scripting, and configuration changes.
  • Partners with users to capture and clarify functional requirements, translating business needs into concrete technical tasks and development work.
  • Debugs and troubleshoots applications and interfaces, resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Designs and executes unit and system tests to verify functionality and data accuracy, and supports interface testing during system changes.
  • Implements updates, enhancements, and maintenance activities; participates in rollout and deployment activities.
  • Produces and maintains technical documentation such as procedures, notes, requirements, and simple design diagrams.
  • Supports data related tasks including validation, report queries, and updates to data definitions as needed.
  • Provides support for Court Internet and Intranet applications, updating screens, menus, scripts, and content.
  • Collaborates with IT teammates to ensure applications function smoothly within the Court's technical environment.
  • Performs other duties consistent with court operations as assigned.

Supervision and career level

The role receives general direction from assigned supervisory and management personnel and technical and functional direction from senior personnel. It does not involve direct supervision of other staff.

Class characteristics

The Application Developer is a journey level classification focused on supporting assigned software systems and handling development, design, programming, coding, implementation, and testing of new or existing applications. It is distinguished from the Senior Applications Developer, which typically handles more complex modules or larger scale work and may include lead and training responsibilities.
