PNC Financial Services Group is seeking a Lead Software Engineer - Fullstack to guide Java/Spring Boot backend and Angular frontend work within the Lending Tech organization, onsite in Birmingham, AL.
Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end feature design and implementation across Java 21 based backend services and Angular frontends.
- Own architectural decisions spanning APIs, UI state management, performance, security, and scalability.
- Define and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and best practices across backend and frontend domains.
- Architect and implement backend services with Java 17/21+, Spring Boot, and related Spring ecosystems.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations consumed by Angular applications.
- Lead backend architecture using microservices, event driven designs, and cloud native patterns.
- Lead frontend development with Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, and a modern component based architecture.
- Create responsive, accessible, and performant UI components aligned to UX and product goals.
- Define frontend architecture including state management, routing, lazy loading, and API consumption.
- Promote automated testing across the stack with backend unit, integration, and contract tests using JUnit and Mockito.
- Support frontend tests including unit and component tests with Jasmine, Karma, and Jest.
- Champion observability with structured logging, metrics, and tracing across frontend and backend.
- Ensure security, resilience, and production readiness with validation, error handling, and monitoring.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for both frontend and backend components.
- Collaborate with DevOps on Docker and Kubernetes deployments, environment configuration, and release processes.
- Ensure frontend and backend artifacts are versioned, deployed, and monitored consistently.
- Participate in production support, incident reviews, and reliability improvements.
- Mentor engineers across frontend and backend to promote full stack skill growth.
- Lead technical design reviews and code reviews for Java and Angular codebases.
- Promote knowledge sharing and establish best practices for full-stack development.
- Support recruiting and onboarding of full-stack engineers through interviews and guidance.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, QA, and platform teams.
- Drive sprint planning, estimation, and timely delivery of full-stack features.
- Communicate technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders.
- Balance active development with leadership duties.

Pay Transparency
Base Salary: $86,250.00 – $158,125.00. Salaries may vary by location, market data, and by individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible based on company, business, and individual performance.
