The Data Platforms Software Engineer role sits within Liberty Mutual’s Global Digital Services (GDS) organization. The position focuses on building DataForge, a data factory platform, and supporting data products through agile delivery and software engineering practices.
Role Focus
You will contribute to the development and ongoing evolution of DataForge, partnering with teams across the organization to ensure delivered data capabilities meet the needs of data product partners and end users. Work is centered on agile collaboration, quality-minded engineering, and practical delivery of customer value.
Build out DataForge, our data factory platform, supporting the Technology Data Office and the broader data products portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate side-by-side with Tech Data Office product partners and CloudForge Engineering teammates to resolve technical challenges in data product development and maintain quality through collaborative Agile development.
- Apply innovative, creative approaches to solve complex problems and deliver effective solutions.
- Keep end users at the forefront by building products designed to provide meaningful customer value.
- Adapt quickly to new technologies and methodologies, proactively identify skill gaps, and take steps to address them.
- Move beyond troubleshooting by proactively finding opportunities to improve performance, quality, and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of Full Stack Engineering experience.
- Experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, deployments, and services including AWS, S3 buckets, eventing, Cloud Foundry, GitHub, and GitHub actions.
- Ability to build and consume RESTful services (APIs).
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools.
- Demonstrated experience working in an agile environment using Scrum (or Kanban / XP).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain engineering decision-making to non-engineers.
- Collaborative, adaptable working style with initiative and the ability to prioritize time and effort effectively.
- Thorough understanding of technology concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture, and technical standards.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Snowflake and DBT (Data build Tool) and/or Airflow.
