The Automation and Platform organization at PNC Financial Services Group is seeking a Lead Software Developer to design and build scalable enterprise applications. This onsite role in Birmingham, AL focuses on microservices, event-driven systems, and strong Java and Python development, with platform engineering responsibilities across CI/CD and business integrations that may include Azure AI and generative AI capabilities.
Role Overview
In this position, you will create and lead the technical design and development of software solutions. The work emphasizes microservices architecture principles, event-driven patterns with Kafka, and the integration of Azure AI Foundry and generative AI capabilities into business solutions. You will also help resolve complex technical problems, support peer teams with technical guidance, and review coding, testing, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable applications using Microservices Architecture principles.
- Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Bounded Context concepts.
- Build event-driven systems using Kafka.
- Develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Python frameworks.
- Implement Service Discovery, API Gateway, and security best practices.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Integrate Azure AI Foundry and Generative AI capabilities into business solutions.
- Create and lead the technical design and development of software solutions.
- Propose and design software solutions to address complex business needs, including preparation of required technical and procedural documentation.
- Facilitate complex problem resolution.
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, including reviews of coding, testing, and documentation.
- Apply modern principles, methodologies, and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.

Compensation
Base Salary: $86,250.00 – $172,500.00 per year. Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data, and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible, with payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
